Three teenagers were charged with property damage stemming from an alleged December joyride in which they allegedly drove over four publicly owned fields and left gouges in the turf.
Two male juveniles, 16 and 17 years old, turned themselves in last month at the Winnetka Police Department, 410 Green Bay Road. They were each charged with four counts of criminal damage to state supported property.
A third teen, Aries Boston, 18, of 900 block of Arbor Lane, Glenview, was charged Jan. 24 with a single count of criminal damage to state supported property, according to a police report.
Boston could not be reached for comment.
School and park locations damaged Dec. 18 by tire tracks and gouges in the turf include Crow Island School, 1112 Willow Road; the neighboring Crow Island Woods; Centennial Park, 225 Sheridan Road; and New Trier High School, 385 Winnetka Ave., according to Winnetka Police Cmdr. Marc Hornstein. A metal fence outside Crow Island School was also damaged, a report said.
The damage at Centennial Park was estimated at $499, but there were no damage estimates for the other locations.
The juveniles were released to their parents and referred to a Peer Jury process. Boston was given a Feb. 27 court date.
