A Northfield man has been issued a ticket for the car accident earlier this month in which he sideswiped a car on Willow Road then crashed head-on into a third vehicle driven by his daughter, authorities said Thursday.
Gilbert A. Sita, 53, of the 400 block of Chapel Hill Court, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the July 20 accident near the intersection of Willow Road at Whittier Lane, Northfield police said.
Police said Sita was eastbound in a grey Infinity on Willow Road when he crossed the center line and sideswiped a white westbound Mercedes Benz. After sideswiping the Mercedes, Sita struck a second westbound vehicle which was being driven by his 20 year-old daughter. Her 17-year-old sister and two friends were in the vehicle with her.
Sita told investigators he could not remember what happened before the crash and police said that he was treated at hospital. The driver of the Mercedes was not injured and the two daughters and their two friends were treated at the scene by paramedics and were not seriously injured. Sita is scheduled for an Aug. 24 hearing at the Skokie courthouse.
