For over forty years the Sisterhood of Beth Hillel Congregation Bnai Emunah in Wilmette
has made it possible to share the holiday of Chanukah, the eight day festival of lights,
with people who have fewer opportunities to get out and observe as they once did.
This year, as in the past, the Sisterhood sent out invitations to seniors and residents of
group homes in the northern suburbs and Chicago. Included were Manor Care- Wilmette,
Lieberman Geriatric Health- Skokie, Gross Pointe- Skokie, Robineau- Skokie, Park Plaza
Dobson- Evanston and Friedman Home- Chicago.

A Chanukah luncheon was served by the volunteers complete with latkes (potato pancakes).
Singing, stories and conversation with Cantor Pavel Roytman (Wilmette) and Rabbi Michael Cohen,
Education Director (Glenview) filled the afternoon with warmth. Chair of the event,
Judy Walder (Chicago) completed the festivities with bingo games and gifts for all to take home.

This annual event is most gratifying, especially when seeing the twinkle in the guests' eyes and
the smiles on their faces….. thus making everyone's holiday even brighter.
