Wilmette, Feb. 2-6: Burglar leaves wine in the sink, and more

The following incidents were taken from Wilmette Police Department reports on Feb. 2-6.

HOME BURGLARY

A home in the 600 block of Lavergne Avenue was reportedly burglarized between 3 p.m. Feb. 1 and 8 p.m. Feb. 3 while the residents were out of town. A neighbor who had been tasked with picking up the home’s mail noticed the front door had been left open and called police. A sliding window above the laundry room sink was discovered open that had likely been left unlocked and provided the burglars a point of entry. Nothing appeared to have been stolen.

A resident in the 3100 block of Wilmette Avenue reported at 10:24 p.m. Feb. 3 that someone had forced open the rear door and rummaged through two upstairs bedrooms and an office. Two bottles of wine, from a cabinet above the refrigerator, were found in the sink and a foil container was on the kitchen floor. The burglary took place after 7:30 a.m. that day and there was no description of anything stolen from the home.

TRAFFIC

A 36-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 3 in the 2000 block of Lake Avenue and charged with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop.

WARRANT

A 28-year-old Park City man was arrested at 1:55 a.m. Feb. 5 in the 1100 block of Wilmette Avenue after police responded to a reported domestic dispute. The man was found to be wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court related to a prior driving under the influence of alcohol charge.
