Two men were arrested after a Wilmette police investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at an alleged drug house in Evanston.
Patrick E. Whitington and Kyle P. Lucki, both 18, both of Evanston were arrested after Wilmette detectives searched Whitington’s home in the 2500 block of Thayer Street on Jan. 27.
Inside a bedroom, police found 79.6 grams of marijuana, 3 Ecstasy pills, 186 Alprazolam pills, 23 Ritalin pills, 3.7 grams of cocaine and 72 nitrous oxide cylinders, according to police.
Wilmette Police Chief Brian King said his detectives coordinated the search warrant execution with Evanston police, but the investigation began in Wilmette.
“We were investigating information about drug sales to Wilmette residents and the investigation eventually led back to that address” in Evanston, King said.
Whitington was charged with three felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, one count of possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possession of a controlled substance. Lucki was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to deliver.
Whitington was issued a $30,000 bond, while Lucki was given a $10,000 recognizance bond.
“I would just like to say that charges are pending and they are not set in stone,” said Whitington, when reached by telephone. “I’m still innocent until proven guilty. That’s all I can say at this point.”
Lucki could not be reached for comment.
The arrests came after Wilmette police received a tip “two to three weeks ago” about drug dealing from the home, according to police. Investigators established surveillance outside the residence and noted suspicious activity, police said.
“Further investigation identified a primary suspect and confirmed the distribution of various amounts of controlled substances and cannabis from the suspect’s residence,” according to a press release.
