Wilmette, Jan. 23-26: Chalk graffiti found on Baha’i Temple, and more

The following incidents were taken from Wilmette Police Department reports on Jan. 23-26.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

The word “die” was discovered written in white chalk on the wall outside Baha’i Temple office, 415 Linden Ave., at 1:23 a.m. Jan. 24. A police officer discovered the same type of graffiti outside several businesses and an apartment building also in the 400 block of Linden Avenue.

FRAUD

The owner of Piero’s Pizza, 335 Ridge Road, reported Jan. 25 two bad checks had been received in the last year — one in March and one in June. Police contacted the person who wrote the check in June, who promised to reimburse the restaurant for the amount of the check plus the returned check fee, but were unable to reach the woman who wrote the March check.

PUBLIC INJURY

A Wilmette man was injured at the Metra train station, 722 Green Bay Road, at 6:54 p.m. Jan. 26 after he slipped on the platform stairs. He was taken to Evanston Hospital.
