A burglar broke into a Wilmette home overnight on Sept. 1 while the residents were asleep upstairs, police said.
The incident in the 700 block of Leamington Avenue happened sometime between 12:30 a.m. and 4:30 a.m., police said.
Wilmette Police think the burglar entered the home by raising a screen and opening an unlocked first floor window. Once inside, the burglar stole a wallet and a camera, police said.
The Wilmette Police Department is reminding residents to lock their doors and windows at night and activate a security alarm, if possible.
