Samsung and its partners, with the intention of raising enthusiasm for STEM (Science- Technology-Engineering-Math) education, invited 6th-12th grade teachers to enter a competition to create videos with their students. The assignment was to answer the question, "How can science or math help improve the environment." Wheeling High School science teacher, Lisa del Muro, entered the competition, and was recently notified that WHS will move on to phase two of the competition.
Del Muro will soon receive a kit containing a Samsung camcorder and adobe video editing software to create a video response to the question. Any WHS student interested in helping with the video will be allowed to participate in the project with del Muro's Advanced Placement environmental class. The top ten videos will be posted on Samsung.com for on-line voting. The five finalist videos will each be invited to send a representative to New York City for an awards ceremony.
Samsung and its partners will donate $1 million in technology grants to a total of 25 schools throughout the nation.
