Rotarians Warming the Hearts of Children
from Wheeling’s Needy Families
Area residents help Rotary provide new winter coats to local children
through purchase of $25 raffle tickets at Hoyne Savings Bank.
September 1, 2010 (Wheeling, IL) Continuing its 50 year tradition of community service, The Rotary Club of Wheeling plans to distribute new winter coats to needy children attending Wheeling area schools.
“A winter coat is an essential item in Chicago’s winters,” said Jim Bradley, Community Service Vice Chair of the Club. “A coat provides more than just warmth, it allows a child to attend school, and receive an education. A new coat provides the added benefit of increasing self esteem- who doesn’t like getting new things?”
Children receiving coats will be anonymously selected by School District 21 and Wheeling High School, and coats will be provided during the Rotary Club’s annual Thanksgiving Food Baskets Day.
The Rotary Club of Wheeling is working with Operation Warm, Inc.®, a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to distributing high quality, new winter coats to children living in need.
Area citizens are invited to help the Rotary Club with this project by purchasing raffle tickets that support the club’s annual fundraising program. Special raffle tickets are available for $25 at Hoyne Savings Bank, with proceeds dedicated to this Operation Warm project helping Wheeling families. The club’s raffle tickets normally sell for $100, but these special ¼ share tickets make it easier for the community to participate. Each ticket sold will help provide another child with a new winter coat. Raffle tickets can be purchased and samples of the coats can be seen at the display in Hoyne Savings Bank at Dundee & McHenry Rds, Wheeling (847) 459-1150. Raffle winners will be determined at the club’s dinner on October 7th at Chevy Chase Country Club. Winners need not be present at the dinner.
