Wheeling High School’s community service club, “Interact with Africa,” in partnership with other high schools, recently contributed financial resources to help build a school in rural Angola, Africa. The school was under construction this summer and will be ready to open in early September of this year.
Prior to the construction of the new facility, over a thousand students were forced to learn in an open area under the trees. The new school allows for these same children to have the opportunity to study in an environment more conducive to learning.
Over the summer, WHS teacher Mariola Sobol traveled to Angola to see the new school first-hand. While there, Sobol presented instructional workshops for the teachers who will teach at the new school and visited with the prospective students.
