Join Friendship Force Northern Illinois at their annual picnic July 11 at Childerly Park, 506 Mc Henry Road in Wheeling from 12:30 to 4:30pm. Admission is $4 person along with a donation to the Northfield Township Food Pantry. Heather Braoudakis will present a program of patriotic theme songs and a sing-a-long, with games, prizes, music, and FUN. Childerly Park is a 12.5 acre nature area with walking paths. Members are asked to bring a small wrapped “white elephant” gift to exchange with another member or attendee. If it is an item from travels, please note country of origin. Dress is casual, but we are promoting the patriotic theme, so dig out your red, white, and blue outfits, with prizes for patriotic costumes or outfits. Members should wear their name tags. Friendship Force is part of a worldwide network of clubs promoting global understanding across the barriers that separate people. The Northern Illinois club, with members in Lake, McHenry and northern Cook Counties, participates in exchanges with clubs from other countries, both as home hosts to visiting clubs and as guests of club members abroad. Our mission: Explore – Understand – Serve. Club members will travel to Australia and New Zealand this fall and to Romania and Azerbaijan late next spring, 2011.
