St. Michael Parish School Football Champs

The St. Michael Lancer Varsity football team was crowned the 2010 Suburban Parochial Football League Gold Playoff Champion on Sunday, October 24th. The Lancers defeated the SS. Peter and Paul Trojans by a score of 8-0 to win the title.

The Lancer Varsity football team is made up of 7th and 8th grade boys from St. Michael School. In their four years of football at St. Michael’s, the 8th graders finished with a 31 win and 1 loss record in the SPFL. In addition to this year’s championship, these boys also won the SPFL JV regular season and playoff championships when they were in 6th grade.

Lancer Football Alumni include Riley O'Toole, Matt Ives, Julian Banuelos, and Casey Armbrust, key players on the Wheaton Warrenville South powerhouse team, as well as Danny Sufranski and Mark Kachmer who made important contributions to St. Francis High School's State Championship win. Also notable is Will Matte, a co-captain and three-year starter for the Tiger Varsity Tiger Football Team and currently named Freshman All-Big Ten by Sporting News and selected as a CollegeFootballNews.com Freshman All-American honorable mention.
