City property sold to couple expected to open Aveda salon

A well-known salon is expected to open in downtown Wheaton under an agreement city council approved Tuesday night.

The council agreed to sell the city-owned property at 109 N. Main Street to Roy and Karen Millonzi, a Glen Ellyn couple planning to open an Aveda Lifestyle Salon at the site. A large portion of the shop will be dedicated to selling Aveda products, including hair care, hair coloring, skin care, makeup and perfumes, Roy Millonzi has said.

The Millonzis purchased the property for $200,000, according to city documents. Council members voted 5-0 to approve the sale. Mayor Michael Gresk and Councilman Phil Suess were absent.

“The city is pleased to see this internationally respected brand choose downtown Wheaton for its newest location,” said Jim Kozik, Director of Planning and Economic Development. “It also puts this property back on the tax rolls, which is good for the City and the entire community.”

An attorney for the couple, Joseph Fortunato, said Wednesday he was unsure of an exact timeline for when the store and salon might open.
