Mary McCann, an accountant and financial planner, joined the Friends of the Wheaton Library in retirement and lobbied against cuts to library funding.
“She was very much into that battle,” said her husband, John. “She almost took it personally that they would cut funding. And she probably took more books out of that library than anybody.”
A Wheaton resident for 49 years, Mrs. McCann, 74, died Thursday, Jan. 12, in Crown Point, Ind., of injuries suffered in an automobile crash, her husband said.
