Composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Taj Mahal brings his Grammy Award-winning sound to the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn, during an 8 p.m. performance Saturday, Sept. 25.

One of the most prominent and influential blues and roots musicians, Taj Mahal has recorded nearly 50 albums in a career spanning more than 40 years. His music began with American blues, but has expanded to include the sounds of West Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and the Hawaiian Islands.

The self-taught singer/songwriter grew up in Springfield, Mass., and learned piano, clarinet, trombone and harmonica as a boy. He was heavily influenced by his father, a jazz pianist of Caribbean descent, and studied guitar as a teen.

His unmistakable and unique voice has been enjoyed by thousands of fans worldwide and the artist has lent his talents to several humanitarian projects, including Farm Aid.

Tickets to Taj Mahal’s Sept. 25 performance are $48 for adults, $46 for seniors and $38 for College of DuPage students and youth.
