West Chicago Elementary School District 33's final spelling bee for 2012 was held Tuesday, January 31at Turner Elementary School. After 20 rounds of competition, two students emerged as the finalists that will continue on to represent District 33 at the DuPage Regional Spelling Bee in February!

The winner was Lucia DePaz, a 3rd grade student at Wegner School. Lucia's championship word was 'astrophysicist'. Our second place finalist was Collin Fank, a 7th grade student at West Chicago Middle School.

The participants in the final spelling bee included students in grades third through 8th.
