Volley for the Cure Breast Cancer Fundraiser

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Wheaton Warrenville South High School is kicking it off with a bang!

The South girls volleyball program will host a Pig Roast on Sunday, October 3rd from Noon to 5:00 pm at the Warrenville VFW. The VFW is located at 3S371 Mignin Drive – at the corner of Rockwell Street and Warrenville Road.

A bean bag tournament and a volleyball serving contest are two of the many activities planned for the afternoon. B96FM will broadcast live and have on-air promotions. Food will be sold, as well as snacks and desserts.

The fundraiser will also have a silent auction and raffles every hour. All funds raised at the pig roast will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the leading catalyst in breast cancer research.

The Pig Roast is the precursor to the “Volley for the Cure” main event. South will host Naperville Central on Tuesday, October 5th in an event that features five volleyball matches. Freshman and sophomore volleyball matches start at 4:30 pm. Speakers and breast cancer survivors will highlight the varsity match that starts around 6:00 pm.

There will be silent auction items and basket raffles at the volleyball game on Tuesday night. These funds will also go to Komen for the Cure, as the two high schools try to raise $25,000!

Come and be a part of something fun and meaningful. Purchase a pink “Volley for the Cure” t-shirt at either event and admission is free. The goal of the night is to “Pack the Place Pink” and raise funds for breast cancer research and education.

Please contact the Wheaton Warrenville South Athletic Department for more information (630-784-7200).
