With winter around the corner and so many in the neighborhood struggling economically, local food banks are reaching out to the community to help keep everyone in Tinley Park fed.
Although the holiday spirit inspires many folks to give a little extra at this time of year, let’s not forget that there are plenty of people who will be struggling to put food on the table in the months to come.
The local food pantries are always in need of the following: peanut butter and jelly, pasta and noodles, beans, cereal, canned meats, tuna fish, canned soups, Ramen soups, canned fruits, canned vegetables, spaghetti sauce, and rice in one-pound packages.
Even if you don't have a lot to give, you can help. Every little bit counts. You might not be able to afford to feed a whole family for a year, but maybe you can afford to buy an extra jar of peanut butter once in a while.
From now through February 1, you can drop off food at the Tinley Park Library for the United For Others Food Drive.
