Portrait of a Young Female Coyote
This young female coyote is the off spring of a female coyote that has graced the pages of the Tinley Park Trib Local for the last two years, although I've been photographing her for four years now. The daughter learned to hunt at her mother's side and quikly learned to accept a handout or two during the winter months when food is scarce and more energy is expended just to keep warm. The readers may not be aware that these photos are unusal because most wild coyotes are very wary of humans and often will not approach if even the slightest hint of of danger exists --- just ask any one who has hunted coyotes. But they are also very smart and pick up new knowledge after just a few tutorial sessions from mom. They adapt to new circumstances. That's why they have been around for thousands of years.
