Call about delinquent loan ends with threat to blow up business, and more

The following items were taken from Tinley Park police reports Jan. 23.

Threatening phone calls

  • A cashier at USA Pay Day Loans, 19543 S. Harlem Ave., reported receiving a threatening phone call from a man who said he would beat her and blow up the business if she called about a delinquent loan again. The woman reported the incident to police at about 12:30 p.m. Jan 19, explaining she has left about three messages a week for an Orland Park woman since October for a debt of about $623. After leaving another message, a man called her back within seconds and said the woman who took out the loan was out of town and that the cashier should stop calling. He told the cashier he knew she worked alone and what time she would be leaving the store when it closed. The woman did not want to file a complaint but wanted the incident recorded because she said she planned to continue calling about the loan.

Criminal trespass

  • A 29-year-old man reported having an unknown woman enter his home in the 7900 block of 164th Street at about 10:40 p.m. Jan. 22 after she rang the doorbell. She entered the home without invitation and when the man told her to leave she told him he had called her. She attempted to follow the man further in to his home when he went to retrieve his phone. Instead, he yelled out of his front door for help and a neighbor called police. The woman reached into the empty pocket of the man’s robe before quickly fleeing the house.

Disabled car

  • A car was found blocking traffic at the intersection of 183rd Street and 80th Avenue at about 3:55 p.m. Jan. 19. A female passenger in the car said the driver had left to find a mechanic but he was never located by police. The car’s registration sticker was issued to a different car and was expired. The woman called someone to come and pick her up and the unclaimed car was towed.

Warrant

  • A 31-year-old Dolton woman was arrested for a warrant issued by Homewood police after she reported being rear-ended at 183rd Street and 80th Avenue at about 9 a.m. Jan. 17. She was also cited for driving on a suspended license.

Burglary to residence

  • A 46-inch LCD television and a watch were stolen from a home in the 27700 block of South Avon Lane between 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Jan. 19 while the resident was away. Forced entry was found to a rear kitchen door and two sets of footprints were found in the snow in the backyard.

Burglary to auto

  • Two headrest DVD players, a Bluetooth headset and $10 in cash were stolen from a car at Best Buy, 7330 W. 191st St., between 4:30 and 5 p.m. Jan. 18. The car’s owner believed he dropped his car fob sometime after locking the car. When he returned, he could not find his fob and he noticed items were missing from his car.
  • A radar detector was stolen from a vehicle after a window was broken while parked in the 17400 block of Ridgeland Avenue between 10 p.m. Jan.16 and 7:30 a.m. Jan. 17.
  • Women’s clothing was stolen from a vehicle after a window was broken while parked in a parking lot in the 16100 block of Brementowne Drive between 2 p.m. Jan. 16 and 9 a.m. Jan. 17.

Theft from auto

  • Four tires and rims were stolen from a 2011 Cadillac Escalade parked at Tony Rizza Cadillac, 8425 159th St., between 6 p.m. Jan. 21 and 9 a.m. Jan. 23.

Theft

  • A trailer and a Snow Blade valued at $5,000 were stolen from a parking lot in the 8400 block of 185th Street between Jan. 11 and Jan. 17.

Retail theft

  • A 26-year-old Worth woman was arrested at Menards, 6851 W. 159th St., at 3 p.m., Jan. 19 for retail theft after allegedly stealing wallpaper worth about $18.
