The new Tinley Park website is up and running

Tinley Park Residents can now take the village’s new website for a test drive.

The Village of Tinley Park site launched Oct.14,  and “so far so good,”  Marketing Director Donna Framke  said Monday morning.

The village has been working with CivicPlus, a firm that specializes in municipal communication tools, for nearly a year to develop a user-friendly site that’s more easily accessible for residents and visitors. The development of the site and first year of maintenance cost $33,000.

The previous website hadn’t been updated in about eight years and was becoming difficult to manage, Framke said. The new platform should make it easier for the village to oversee and for residents to navigate. Framke said she hopes residents will have an easier time finding what they are looking for and communicating with various village departments.

A new feature on the site is the a “Report a Concern” link  where someone can report anything from a pothole to flooding to anything else they feel needs village attention. Village board meetings and agendas, as well as press releases and village announcements, are also accessible from the homepage.

“We have the stuff people are looking for and hopefully can find pretty easily,” Framke said.

A specific goal to the website was also to improve government transparency by posting additional information where it is easy to find, she said.

As the site continues to be developed, Framke said additional improvements will be made, including the online submission of building permits and payment for vehicle stickers.
