The following items were taken from Tinley Park police reports Sept. 20.
Found Property
A woman who lives in the 16300 block of South 85th Avenue reported finding 15 lawn ornaments on her front porch at about 8 a.m. Sept. 18 that did not belong to her. A plastic squirrel, rabbit and thirteen gnomes were left there sometime after 9 p.m. the night before.
Retail Theft
A 35-year-old Matteson woman was arrested at Kohl’s, 7500 W. 191st St., at 3:55 p.m. Sept. 17 for retail theft. She is accused of allegedly stealing $171 in merchandise by putting makeup and other items in her purse.
An 18-year-old Orland Hills woman was arrested at Menards, 6851 W. 159th St., at 2:41 p.m. Sept. 17 for retail theft for allegedly stealing pieces of copper tubing valued at about $266 by putting them in her purse.
A man stole two bottles of vodka valued at about $70 total from Super Kmart, 16300 Harlem Ave., at about 3:50 p.m. Sept. 19. He fled the store and removed the license plate from his car before fleeing the area.
Burglary to Auto
A purse was stolen from a locked vehicle parked at the Howe Developmental Center, 7600 W. 183rd St., between 12:30 p.m. and 2:22 p.m. Sept. 11 while the driver was in the area for a soccer game.
A GPS system was stolen from a locked car after a window was shattered while parked at the Holiday Inn, 18501 S. Harlem Ave., between 12:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sept. 19.
Residential Burglary
A 19-year-old Tinley Park man was arrested near a home in the 17400 block of Harlem Avenue at 1:24 p.m. Sept. 19 for residential burglary after allegedly entering the house with a juvenile male and attempting to steal jewelry, an X-Box and X-Box games. The juvenile allegedly knew a resident of the home and was looking for weed. Both were arrested within blocks of the residence after someone reported seeing them looking into windows of the home.
Auto Theft
A 1998 Jeep Cherokee was stolen from Herman’s Auto Center, 7250 Duvan Dr., between 2 p.m. Sept. 18 and 7 a.m. Sept. 19 after someone stole keys to the vehicle that were left in a mail slot in the building’s front door.
Battery
A 22-year-old Chicago woman was arrested at Odyssey Fun World, 19111 Oak Park Ave., at 4:30 p.m. Sept. 18 for battery after allegedly hitting a 38-year-old Munster, Ind., woman in the face during an argument in the arcade area.
Criminal Damage
A car parked in a driveway in the 8500 block of West Carriage Lane had a window shattered and its tires slashed at about 1:30 a.m. Sept. 17. An upper-level bedroom window at the home was also shattered by rocks, and a pool in the yard was also punctured.
A bottle of Oak Leaf alcoholic beverage was thrown at a window at Walker Intermediate School, cracking the window, between 2:30 p.m. Sept. 14 and 1:30 p.m. Sept. 15.
Theft
Two signs that read, “No Parking Between Signs” were stolen from the southwest corner of the school grounds at Walker Intermediate School, 19900 S. 80th Ave., between 5 p.m. Sept. 16 and noon Sept. 19.
Criminal Trespass
Someone entered a home in the 16900 block of South Richards Drive between 9 p.m. Sept. 17 and 12:04 a.m. Sept. 18 and knocked over chairs and other items in the home, but nothing appeared to be missing.
Disorderly Conduct
A 34-year-old Tinley Park woman said she received a drink at Cracker Barrel, 18531 North Creek Dr., at about 10:25 p.m. Sept. 15 that appeared to have spit in it. No charges were filed because there was no evidence of who may have spat in the drink.
Damaged Property
The Tinley Park Fire Department responded to an alarm at the Holiday Inn, 18501 S. Convention Center Dr., at about 8:30 p.m. Sept. 17 to find no fire but only flooded hotel rooms. A sprinkler head on the third floor discharged and flooded three rooms. Water also damaged rooms on the second floor. Water was seen coming from the lobby’s ceiling and leaking form an elevator in the lobby. A glass tube that prevents the sprinkler from activating was missing. It was unclear if the sprinkler had been tampered with or not.
