A 38-year-old U.S. Postal Worker is scheduled to appear in Cook County Court on Feb. 9 after allegedly hitting another postal employee in the face during an argument at work.
Police said the woman, who is also a supervisor, was arrested for battery at 6:06 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Tinley Park Post Office, 7230 W. 171st St., after allegedly hitting another employee in the face with her hand during an argument.
A 27-year-old employee said she returned to the post office after making her deliveries for the day to return her equipment when the supervisor began yelling at her and got in her face, backing her up against a wall, police said. The two women began arguing and the supervisor struck her in the face. The woman then exited the office and called police.
The woman said she has been having problems with the supervisor over a friendship with another male employee, police said. The woman filed a harassment complaint against the supervisor two weeks ago and said she felt her actions were retaliation for the complaint.
The supervisor said the two women did argue, but she denied striking the other employee. A third employee said he saw the argument and saw the supervisor raise her hand but was unaware if she actually hit the woman. She was released on bond.
