This year we expect to have 200 people in attendance at our auction, and our goal is to raise in excess of $50,000 for the future goals of FODHRA. While we fund a portion of our yearly costs thru adoption fees, mini-fund raisers, yearly memberships and horse sponsorships, most of the expenses are left unaccounted for. It is for those funds that we hold our annual auction, ‘The Mane Event.’ “Most of our horses need special care due to injuries or old age. Field of Dreams is a unique rescue in that we pride ourselves in taking on not only the easy cases, but also the more difficult ones,” said Sue Balla, president and founder of FODHRA. “The amount it takes to keep one horse at FODHRA is approximately $350.00 a month. To put it in perspective, we need over $30,000 this year just to maintain the well-being of the horses currently in our care.”
FODHRA is the only recognized horse rescue in Kane County , Illinois . We provide a safe haven for abused and neglected horses, as well as horses coming from loving homes whose owners can no longer care for them. We promote volunteering before anyone adds an equine companion to their home so people can see what the true responsibilities of horse ownership are all about. We have a group of dedicated volunteers who come to help care for our ‘special guests’ on a daily basis. They brush horses, clean stalls, do barn repairs or whatever else is asked of them. No board member or volunteer takes a salary. Our effort is truly one of dedication and love.
“Your donation, paid membership, and time and talents volunteering, makes it possible for us to continue our mission in helping horses in need,” said FODHRA publicist Lorrie Marsiglio.
