A garage fire caused about $40,000 in damage Monday night just outside St. Charles.
Firefighters responded around 7:49 p.m. to a detached, two-car garage at 6N950 Roosevelt Ave., said Greg Benson, chief of Fox River & Countryside Fire/Rescue District, which serves unincorporated areas adjacent to St. Charles.
Homeowners called 911 when they saw their garage in flames, Benson said. No one was hurt by the blaze.
After about 30 minutes, firefighters extinguished the fire, he said, and spent another 90 minutes removing the burned contents.
Benson said the Kane County Fire Investigation Task Force is still looking into what caused the fire.
