Skokie police on Wednesday said that there was not an attempted abduction of 14-year-old boy near Oakton and Warren Streets on Monday,  as had been previously reported. Their investigation is continuing, authorities said.

“It was a false report,” said Sgt. David Pawlak, who would not immediately provide additional details.

The teenager had told police that he had been home in the 4800 block of Oakton Street when he was approached by a man driving a red vehicle who asked the teen to get in to the car. The teen told police that he refused to get into the car and told the driver he was going to call the police before running away.

As of Wednesday morning, no charges had been filed against the teen for filing a false report.
