Evanston police have arrested a 50-year-old Evanston woman on charges of driving under the influence and child endangerment after police found two juveniles in the car with her.
Suzanne Jeanette Ross, of the 2600 block of Orrington Ave., was pulled over Aug. 28 at about 1:27 a.m. in the 1300 block of Ridge Ave. after police observed her swerving in and out of her lane, authorities said.
Once pulled over, Ross could not produce her driver’s license or proof of insurance, police said. Her eyes appeared blood shot and her breath smelled of alcohol, according to police.
Ross struggled with her balance when given a field-sobriety test, and registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.157 percent on the scene, police said.
Officers transported Ross and the two juveniles with her to the police station. A second breathalyzer test given at the station indicated Ross’ blood-alcohol level to be .146, police said, also above the legal limit of .08.
Ross was charged with driving under the influence and two counts of child endangerment. She is expected to appear in court October 1 in Skokie.
