Walking 30 minutes 6 days a week: The Richardsons Take

This is our goal: walking 30 minutes 6 days a week. It seems so simple, and yet our second week included a few vacation days, so we didnt meet our goaltwo weeks in! But we did walk 3 days and that seems like a victory to us. With sedentary day jobs and busy schedules, its no wonder finding time to exercise is difficult for usand just about everyone we know.

Our little experiment is all about making the time. Ashley actually started it in January with some lunchtime figure skating around the corner from her office. Both almost in the early thirties age group, were finding our bodies less forgiving on all those so-delicious, bad-for-your waistline foods. But it seems like dropping a few pounds now will be easier than when were older.

In the summer, we play a lot of golf together, something I encourage other couples starting their marriages to consider, but the extra calories from snacks or Gatorade, probably make that a wash. Ashley comes home all the time spouting off new egg-related research. One she recently shared basically said something along the lines of even losing 10 pounds can yield substantial health benefits. And being self insured, Im all about keeping my health insurance costs in line.

This week we both seemed to get a lot of walks in separately with Wrigley Bear, but by aiming high, I hope we walk three times a week together more often than not. Given everyones busy schedule, how do you squeeze exercise into your daily routine?
