Sunday brunch may be my favorite meal, and when I moved from Lincoln Park to Schaumburg, I missed our ritual of Sunday brunch at Stanleys Kitchen and Tap, www.stanleyskitchenandtap.com/, more than my 20-minute commute. But now, in addition to our perennial favoriteWalker Brothers, www.walkerbros.net/here are two brunch destinations we think you should check out: Wildberry Caf and Shaws Hotel-Style Brunch.

With another location in Libertyville, the Wildberry Caf in Schaumburg is at
1383 N. Meacham, and the morning of our visit, the lobby area was packed. But it was a quick wait, and for those needing a fix, the coffee bar offers plenty of options in additions a pastry case. Even though it seemed like servers were rushing everywhere, we didnt wait to place our order or for our food once the hostess sat us. The only slightly annoying wait was for our paid bill to be returned, but Nicks love for instantly paying the bill and leaving immediately after eating has finally rubbed of me so that was a factor too.

The menu, wildberrycafe.com/, is huge and a little overwhelming as well. Oddly enough, we both ordered Sizzlin Skillets that are described in the online menu as a skillet loaded with mounds of piping hot potatoes that come in a variety of styles all of which are topped off with melted Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheeses. But theres more: Then add two eggs, any style. Served with your choice of toast or pancakes. The pancakes were heavenly, and we both want to go just for those!

No one should leave here hungry, and we both took home enough leftovers for two meals eachfor under $8. You can substitute egg whites or Egg Beaters for an extra charge, but remember the yolk is the powerhouse of nutrients! I thought the drinks seemed slightly overpriced, but then again, this space is huge and even with tables turning several times per hour, we wonder how any restaurant can survive in such a large space.

If Wildberry can be described as yummy, quick-and-easy breakfast destination, then Shaws Hotel-Style Sunday Brunch is an indulgent, over-the-top Im not eating the rest of the day destination. On Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Shaws in Schaumburg and downtown, you can find the very best of Shaws menu, www.shawscrabhouse.com/events/brunch.shtml, along with some unexpected treasures. Brunch costs $39.99 per adult, and kids under 12 eat free when accompanied by their parents. We dont take advantage of the latter because Wrigley Bear isnt exactly allowed in restaurants so make sure to check the details beforehand if you have little ones.

Shaws descriptions reads as follows, Classic brunch features a make-your-own-omelet station with 13 available ingredients, a full carving station, a cold seafood bar featuring sushi, oysters, Alaskan king crab bites and much more! Top it all off at Shaw’s Sweet Table with a variety of desserts. Next time, were starting at the Sweet Table because were too full to do anything but look. At the other stations, the shrimp and sushi are amazing as well as the banana French toast. And make sure to choose wisely because its impossible to eat all your favorites in one visit.

Were headed to the new Savoury Restaurant & Pancake Caf, savourycafe.com/,
in Schaumburg shortly so hopefully, well have another brunch spot to add to our rotation.
