Schaumburg library patrons will not be able to use the west entrance doors after a minivan crashed through the main doors Tuesday afternoon, officials said.
The main doors at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, will be closed indefinitely while they are repaired, library officials stated in a press release.
The driver of the minivan, an 88-year-old Schaumburg man refused medical treatment. A passenger sustained minor injuries, Schaumburg Police Sgt. John Nebl said. No pedestrians were injured, library officials said.
No citations have yet been issued. “It appears driver lost control of the vehicle,” Nebl said.
Programs, services and materials will not be affected by the entrance repairs, officials said. A separate construction project of a new teen center on the second floor has resulted in the temporary relocation of some materials.
The accident happened at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday, library officials said.
