Man arrested for drunk driving after rear-ending car, and more

The following items were taken from Schaumburg Police records on Feb. 6.

DUI

  • A 29-year-old Elgin man was arrested on Schaumburg Road near Braintree Drive at 10:30 p.m. Jan. 24 and charged with driving under the influence. Police said he rear-ended another vehicle that was slowing down at a light. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries.
  • A 46-year-old woman, of the 100 block of Mulligar Court, was arrested on Limerick Lane near Tipperary Court at 10:49 p.m. Feb. 1 and charged with driving under the influence. She was also cited for improper lane use and a defective muffler.
  • A 57-year-old Palatine man was arrested on the 100 block of West Golf Road at 2 a.m. Feb. 1 and charged with two counts of driving under the influence. He was also cited for a headlight violation.

Retail Theft

  • An 18-year-old Des Plaines woman was arrested at Macy’s at Woodfield Mall at 1:50 p.m. Feb. 4 and charged with retail theft. Police said she switched the tag of a $118 purse with the tag for an $18 purse and tried to purchase the more expensive item for a lower price.
  • A 51-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman, both of Mount Prospect, were arrested at JC Penney at Woodfield Mall at 12:08 p.m. Feb. 1 and charged with retail theft. Police said they tried to steal slacks and shorts.
  • A 19-year-old man, of the 1900 block of Swinden Place in Hoffman Estates, was arrested at Macy’s at Woodfield Mall at 6:20 p.m. Jan. 31. Police said the man tried to steal a denim jacket valued at $325.
  • A 55-year-old Wheeling man was arrested at JC Penney at Woodfield Mall at 8 p.m. Jan. 26 and charged with retail theft. Police said he tried to take a four pairs of shorts with a total value of $100.

Vehicle Theft

  • A Chevy Trailblazer was stolen from near the Schaumburg Metra station sometime before 8:02 p.m. Feb. 3.

Burglary

  • A duffel bag, clothes and headphones were stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1800 block of McConnor Parkway between 9:30 p.m. Feb. 2 and 5 a.m. Feb. 3. The driver’s side window was shattered. Loss and damage is estimated at $1,200.

Property Damage

  • The window of a vehicle parked on the 100 block of Williams Drive was shattered between 5 p.m. Feb. 2 and 5:30 a.m. Feb. 3. Nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle.
