Village receives two honors

The Village of Schaumburg has received two awards – one for its public works department and the other for its environmental initiatives.

The American Public Works Association recently re-accredited public works for the third time. To earn the designation, public works agencies must, on a daily basis, meet or exceed standards of performance in areas including water, solid waste management, street and sewer repair, engineering, and other duties.

The village also received a 2010 Governor’s Sustainability Award for its Comprehensive Green Action Plan. The plan was created in 2008 and offers ways to expand and build upon more than 30 environmental programs, policies and ordinances already in place.
