Schaumburg appointed a new community development director.

Julie Summers was named director of community development Tuesday. She has been with the village since 1999 most recently as planning services manager.

Before coming to Schaumburg, Summers worked as a planner for Medina County, near Cleveland, Ohio. Summers has a bachelors degree from the University of Illinois and a masters degree from Ohio State University.

Summers also is a member of the American Planning Association and has served as secretary since 2007 of the Illinois chapter of the APA-Chicago Metro Section.
