Volo Bog State Natural Area Seeks Adult Volunteer Docents
The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking for adult volunteers for Volo Bog State Natural Area in Ingleside, Illinois. Volunteers have a passion for nature and the environment and enjoy interacting with people. The ideal volunteer is an outgoing self-starter and a motivated learner. Training sessions provide the information and skills needed to develop a confident style.
Docents greet visitors, answer a variety of questions regarding Volo Bog and general nature, staff the Friends of Volo Bog’s Tamarack Shop and assist with interpretive projects in the Visitor Center. A minimum commitment of one year is desired.
Weekend Docenting is once-per month and is most flexible
Weekday Docenting is once-per-week on a consistent day
