The nameHungrymakes sense, and were actually surprised we havent seen it used by another restaurant before, but I wondered how many people have given Hungry Restaurant a try. Located in front of the Rolling Meadows WalMart, hungryrestaurant.com/index.html offers a fast-casual option sure to please. Weve been at least three times now, and there are always other customers inside. But weve never seen it completely slammed. Its budget-friendly price points are a great selling point right now. Weve even gotten a few BOGO or buy one, get one coupons in the mail. I dont get people who wont touch a coupon for somewhere or some product theyre going to buy regardless. To me, it seems like a no brainer.

And the portions are very generousso much so that Ive occasionally eaten the leftovers later. Were both fans of the burgers and French dip, and who doesnt love a place that serves breakfast all day! The restaurants window signage is hard to read from Algonquin, but this exactly the type of place that pleases everyone and leaves no one hungry! Call ahead for daily specials and the soup of the day, 847.439.5700.

Gumbo A Go Go is so unexpected in downtown Palatine at 45 N Bothwell St. The warmth and personality that a restaurant should have is exemplified perfectly here. Any menus award-winning item always caused Nick to snicker, but we both adore the award-winning peach cobblerwith ice cream! The drunken chicken and cornbread is our favorite, and Nick always ends up eating the last few bites of mine. The complete menu, www.gumbogogo.com/, offers more than enough spice for those that can handle the heat. According their website, Wednesday evenings are still Haute Dog Happy Hour, which a coworker attended this summer. Gumbo A Go Go donates a percentage of the time slots proceeds to an animal rescue group. Call (847.934.4646) for the most up-to-date details.

Last week, we learned a very important lesson: when a menu reads, all dishes can be made as spicy as you desire, you ask how spicy extra spicy really is. Nick literally had sweat running down his face from Siri Thais Pad Thai Noodles, order extra spicy. Minefar from spicy since as Nick has concluded those with red hair cant handle hotfaired more on the sweet side. So yummy! And while this is the only option weve tried, the entire menu, www.sirithairestaurant.com/, came highly recommended from a friend. Located at 40 W Palatine Road, Siri Thai also opens its kitchen for a group class on Saturdays and Sundays by special arrangement. Visit www.sirithairestaurant.com/class1.html
