Plainfield, IL 1-Oct
The women of the GFWC-IL Plainfield Junior Woman’s Club have announced their elected officers for the 2010 – 2011 club administration. Pictured from left to right are: Karyn M. Palumbo, Corresponding Secretary; Lori Hubbard, Recording Secretary; Karri McLeod, President; Brook Henschen, Vice-President; and Kim Smith, Treasurer.
According to President Karri McLeod, who enthusiastically supported the formation of the club in 2008, Plainfield-area women who can give a few hours a month to a community-based service project should consider joining Plainfield Juniors. “We all lead busy lives, but we believe that by joining together as a GFWC-IL club, we can really make a difference,” said McLeod. The club was founded in 2008 with 6 members and the club has grown to 15 members in 2010.
“GFWC is an international volunteer organization with members in every state in the United States and 20 countries”, added Karyn M. Palumbo, who also serves as Immediate Past President of the Plainfield chapter. Palumbo went on to explain that the GFWC-IL Plainfield Junior Woman’s Club will devote their service and fundraising efforts to helping individuals and families in need from Plainfield and surrounding areas.
The club also sponsors a Juniorettes chapter, which promotes educational goals and leadership for Plainfield girls enrolled in grades 8-12, while providing community service through volunteerism. Vice-President Brook Henschen and Hospitality Chair Leticia Tassone serve as the Juniorettes’ advisors.
