Teen misses turn, drives into river

A teenage girl missed a sharp turn and drove into a shallow stretch of the DuPage River near Plainfield this morning, police said.

Firefighters from the Plainfield Fire Protection District used a flotation device to bring her to shore, according to Plainfield Police Sgt. Mike Fisher. She was taken to a hospital for observation but she apparently was not hurt, he said.
