Volunteers lend a hand at the Youth Campus
A group of 25 volunteers last week painted one of the Youth Campus buildings to help aid the center with its plans to turn into a foster care facility. Employees of Jones Lang LaSalle, a Chicago-based global real estate services firm, painted the interior walls and hallways of the Haake House in under four hours. They also removed office fixtures and furniture and spruced up kitchens and washrooms. The 100-year-old residential treatment center, 733 N. Prospect Ave., houses teenage girls. The Youth Campus wants to recruit and train professional foster parents to live with four to five children on the grounds, which has about six buildings. The plans still have to be approved by the city.
