Resurrection College Prep High School is offering an adult enrichment course entitled Roosevelt and Obama: America in the 1930’s and Today. Participants will examine the similarities between America in the 1930’s and the Great Depression and the Recession of today. Participants will study the ways that both President Roosevelt and President Obama attempted to use their office and the federal government to restart the economy and put people back to work. Participants will also discuss what both men offered to America at a time when many people lost their jobs, dreams and hope. The book list for the course includes “The Defining Moment” by Jonathan Alter, “The Audacity of Hope” by Barack Obama, “The Great Depression: America in the 1930’s” by T.H. Watkins, and “Traitor to His Class” by H.W. Brands. Class will meet on the following Tuesdays: September 14 and 28, October 12 and 26 from 6:30-8:30pm at Res. The class fee is $50.
