Cops: 7 arrested for underage drinking

A 911 hang up call led to arrest of seven underage drinkers, who were allegedly intoxicated outside of what police characterized as a drinking party.

Police were dispatched to the 1400 block of North Dee Road around 4:33 a.m. Feb 19 after receiving a 911 call from the area and discovered three people sitting in a car nearby, said Cmdr. Lou Jogmen. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the individuals, who were later found to be under the legal drinking age, he said.

Meanwhile, officers saw four men, who were also allegedly intoxicated, coming from a driveway, Jogmen said. Police believe the minors were at a drinking party at a home on the block, but officers could not get in touch with the homeowner. They followed up the next day, but still couldn’t find the homeowner, Jogmen said.

All seven were charged under zero tolerance. Six of the individuals, ages 18 to 20, are from Chicago and the other is a 17-year-old from LaGrange Park, police said. They were released and have a March 13 administrative hearing date in front of a Park Ridge hearing officer.
