Everest Academy Prepares for Catholic Schools Week and Annual Open House

110216 Fleck025

Everest Academy of Lemont has big plans for this year’s Catholic Schools Week, beginning on Sunday, January 29 with the school’s annual Open House. Catholic Schools Week will be held throughout the country the week of January 30 – February 3, with a theme of “Faith. Academics. Service.” to highlight what Catholic schools are proud to offer their local communities.

At Everest, the week will kick-off with the annual Open House on Sunday, January 29 from 1-4 P.M. for pre-kindergarten through 8th grade prospective students and their families. Visitors will receive a presentation on Everest Academy, tour of the campus, and an opportunity to meet teachers and current families, ask questions, and view textbooks and student work.

The week will continue with a daily theme that ties into the overall theme of Catholic Schools Week. Monday begins with student appreciation day, and the students will be surprised with one of the 8th grade students acting as principal for the day. Tuesday’s theme of “I Know and Love My Faith” highlights the importance of faith in the students’ lives. Teachers and academics will be celebrated on Wednesday, “Teacher Appreciation Day”, and the middle school will take on the teachers in a game of kickball in the school gym. On Thursday, the theme “To Lead is to Serve” ties in the importance of service, and each class will participate in community service project. The week will be concluded on Friday with a school Mass in the Everest chapel. Other highlights of the week include a Spelling Bee and the annual Science Fair, which will end with awards on Friday.

Catholic Schools Week is a great time for students and families to show their school spirit and their appreciation for a Catholic education. Though a Catholic education comes at a price, many parents feel it is worth every penny. “The culture at the school is unbelievable; it is an environment that I cannot even put into words. The joy and the spirit of the children that go to Everest Academy is just totally different” shares Mrs. Catrina Ramirez of Lemont, who has three sons at Everest.

Everest Academy is an independent Roman Catholic school in Lemont educating children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. The teachers and staff are dedicated to forming the whole child by providing the highest level of academics, by building character, and by developing a strong apostolic faith in the students.
