Maybe it’s something in the water fountains at Conrady Junior High School in Hickory Hills.

The school was named in the Top 5 in the Southland for students’ scores on the Illinois Standards Achievement Test. Then the school’s math team won a recent competition and the boys softball and volleyball teams recently won conference championships.

Now comes the Jaguar Dance Team that wins its first competition of the year during a performance at Stagg High School in neighboring Palos Hills.

It was all part of Team Dance Youth the youth division of Team Dance Illinois.

The Jaguar Dancers won the pom category for their thrilling performance to a vampire-themed medley of songs and earned a commendable 2nd-place finish in the open dance category while dancing to the hit “Behind Those Eyes” by the musical group 3 Doors Down.

Coaches Samantha Liddell and Jeff Orluck expressed tremendous pride in their dancers, saying they displayed a great deal of moxie and team spirit.

“The many hours of practice paid off, and the team already is looking forward to future competitions,” Liddell said.
