Cook County leaders will revive a long-dormant advisory council for the medical examiner’s office, and a proposal to make it easier to fire the besieged doctor in charge of the morgue will simmer a bit longer.

The developments came Wednesday as a group of pastors sat down with County Board President Toni Preckwinkle to air their concerns about reports of bodies piling up in coolers at the county morgue.
