If delectable wines aren’t enough to draw a crowd to the newest suburban event, certainly a chance to taste the culinary delights of a nationally renowned chef will be.

On Saturday, September 25 at 7-10PM, St. Mark’s Church at 337 Ridge Road in Barrington Hills is hosting an evening of “Corks & Forks – The Best American Wines You’ve Never Tasted” showcasing small-vintage, award-winning American wines from lesser-known wine regions of the United States. Ten of the top American wines will be featured for tasting with a twist unusual for a suburban event – each wine will be paired with a dish from celebrity chef David Carrier.

Formerly of The French Laundry, Trio, and Avenue Sea, Carrier’s triumphant return to Chicago with the opening of Kith and Kin has been one of the most chronicled culinary occurrences of the past year. The restaurant has been heralded as the “Best New Neighborhood Restaurant” of 2010 while critics have raved about the food, touting Chef Carrier as “ingenious” (Phil Vettel).

The event will feature a silent auction for those looking for a unique gift or getaway.

All proceeds go to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and support St. Mark’s mission and outreach programs within the local community and globally. Reservations for this event are limited and participants must be age 21 or over. Admission is $65 in advance or $75 at the door. Purchase tickets online at www.st-markschurch.org or call 847-381-0596.
