Art Faculty Exhibition Concludes at Harper College

Last month, the Harper College Gallery introduced an exhibit produced by the College's active studio art faculty. The biennial exhibition hosted contributions from 16 faculty artists and ranged in concept and material approaches, including oil paintings, ceramics, wood printing, ink painting, and photography.

At a gallery reception, students, faculty and the community were invited to celebrate the gallery with a spread of food and a question and answer session with the artists. The exhibit drew hundreds.

"I think it is important to host a gallery periodically to show Harper students and community that the faculty here are actively creating in the profession and using the skills they teach," said Jason Peot, Harper College Gallery Coordinator, "Our faculty members are dedicated to making and exhibiting their own work, which can be unusual at a college."

For those interested in exploring art, Harper offers a wide variety of disciplines. For-credit classes include majors in sculpture, drawing, painting and printing. Continuing Education, non-credit courses, also hosts a gamut of classes running throughout the spring and summer semesters.
