DESCRIPTION;CHARSET=UTF-8:Palatine/Inverness Arts Council Presents 	6th Annual Juried Art Fair	  The Palatine/Inverness Arts Council (PIAC) will present their 6th Annual juried art fair, &ldquo;An Art Affair Around the Square&rdquo; on September 11th and 12th from 10:00 AM &ndash; 5:00 PM in Towne Square in Downtown Palatine at the corners of Smith Street and Palatine Road.  Artists from all specialties, including water color, acrylic, oil, pottery, fine jewelry, stained glass and pastels will be represented. &ldquo;We are excited by the diversity of artists that have returned to the show this year and are impressed with the new talent participating in the show,&rdquo; stated Show Chair, Betty Flamm.  &ldquo;This is a quality juried art show and presented as a celebration of all forms of art, from the traditional to the contemporary.&rdquo;    Artists will be judged by a panel of community residents and be awarded prizes for Best in Show.  The awards presentation will take place on Saturday at 3:00 PM at the Gazebo and will be officiated by Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz.    In addition, Palatine based The Art Guild (TAG) and Positive Strokes Art School and Gallery will host a children&rsquo;s art tent throughout the weekend.  Sunday afternoon, Dobby&rsquo;s will hold a wine tasting at the event.    Besides the wide range of art forms, the weekend show includes live entertainment by local musicians.  The entertainment line-up includes Suzuki violins on Saturday at 12:00 PM, followed by the Palatine Children&rsquo;s Choir at 1:00 PM and acoustic guitarist, Merv Collins, at 2:00 PM.  Sunday, guests will enjoy the Jazz band Zachian starting at 2:00 PM.  All entertainment will take place in the Towne Square gazebo.     The Palatine/Inverness Arts Council is committed to the cultural, educational and economic growth of the members of our communities through support and encouragement of performing and visual arts and artists.  The Council considers the arts as an integral part of life-long learning and works to provide the accessibility of public arts activities to all people.   According to President Bill Pohlman, The Palatine/Inverness Arts Council believes in the preservation of our cultural heritage and a responsible stewardship of community recourses. We believe in the power of the arts as a stimulant to our local economic environment. With our advocacy for the arts, we hope to encourage the highest aspirations in all art endeavors.   In August of 2002, the Palatine/Inverness Arts Council was incorporated as a 501(3)© not-for-profit corporation and is eligible for matching funds from corporations.
