Home vandalized with eggs, barbecue sauce, and more

The following items were taken from Palatine Police records on Feb. 21.

Vandalism

  • Eggs and barbecue sauce were thrown at a home on the 100 block of South Clyde Street between 10:30 p.m. Feb. 18 and 8:45 a.m. Feb. 19.
  • Three windows near the front entrance of an apartment building on the 1100 block of East Nichols Drive were shattered with rocks and bricks between 10:37 and 10:47 p.m. Feb. 12. Police said witnesses saw several subjects wearing dark hooded sweatshirts running from the scene.

Retail Theft Arrest

  • A 41-year-old man of the 1100 block of East Nichols Road, Palatine, was arrested at 7:11 p.m. Feb. 16 and charged with felony retail theft. Police said the man stole television show DVDs from Wal-Mart, 1555 N. Rand Road. Store security contacted police, who pulled the man over a short time later. The DVDs were found in the vehicle.

DUI

  • A 27-year-old Mundelein man was arrested on the 1900 block of North Baldwin Road at 1:02 a.m. Feb. 17 and charged with felony aggravated driving under the influence. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license and improper lane use.

Burglary

  • An in-dash stereo and a phone charger were stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1300 block of Ports O’ Call Drive between 9 p.m. Feb. 14 and 8 a.m. Feb. 15. The owner believes the vehicle was locked, but there were no signs of forced entry.

Theft

  • A Blackhawks spare tire cover, valued at $75, was stolen from a vehicle parked in a driveway on the 300 block of Benton Street between 9:15 p.m. and midnight Feb. 18.
  • A wallet containing identification, credit cards and $50 was stolen from a business on the 200 block of West Dundee Road between 5:45 and 6 p.m. Feb. 16. The owner left the wallet on the counter and returned home. The owner called the business, but the wallet was not found.
