A Palatine taxi driver is accused of fondling a woman who passed out in his cab over the weekend, authorities said.
Mohammed N. Choudry, 47, of the 1000 block of Sterling Avenue, is charged with criminal sexual abuse, Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Lesley Gool said.
Gool said Choudry picked up the woman, who is in her early 20s, from a bar in downtown Palatine at about 2 a.m. Saturday. Because the woman didn’t have any cash, Choudry drove her to an ATM in Rolling Meadows.
After withdrawing $40, the woman passed out in the cab, at which point the cabdriver parked in the 2600 block of Kirchoff Road in Rolling Meadows and fondled her, Gool said. The woman regained consciousness and discovered that some of her clothing had been removed or unfastened, the prosecutor said.
The woman handed the driver $20, got out of the cab and called police, Gool said. Choudry was arrested a short time later, she said.
Bond for Choudry was set at $50,000 at Rolling Meadows branch court Monday.
