Teen shot in Palatine

Andrea L. Brown, Special to the Tribune

Police say the nonfatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy in Palatine appears to be gang-related.

Paramedics were called to the 1900 block of North Green Lane after 6 p.m. Monday for what was described as person injured in a fall. They quickly discovered the teen’s injury was a gunshot wound.

Authorities said the boy told them he’d been shot in the backside while running away from a group of people near Gardenia Lake and Baldwin Road.

The boy was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Police said his wound did not appear to be life-threatening
