Sandburg’s cheerleading squad, which opened the month winning the Illinois High School Association state title, has a chance to close February with another high-profile title.
Sandburg is one of four schools in this week’s ABC7 Cheerleader Cheer-Off along with Marist (third in the state), Conant (fifth) and Kenwood Academy.
People can vote for their favorite cheer squad and the winning school will receive a trophy, according to the ABC7chicago.com website.
Tracy Butler and Roz Varon will be live at each school this week during the ABC7 News This Morning program from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.

Marist, which has several south suburban cheerleaders on its squad, including eight students from Orland Park, will host ABC7 on Thursday and Sandburg will host the station on Friday.
After the Sandburg show, the online voting will be opened up online at 7 a.m. and continue through Sunday at 5 p.m. The winner will be announced on Monday.
Members of the Sandburg roster include Caitlyn Aguirre, Natalie Alfano, Mary Carol Barkowski, Isabella Berardelli, Grace Call, Katie Cardinal, Courtney Conway, Peyten Cronin, Taylor Crump, Kellie Dominick, Sammie Frank, Karissa Kouchis, Alyssa Martinez, Molly McGuire, Samantha Misheck, Hollie Mulcahey, Taylor Nietfeldt, Natalie Noonan, Gabby Papierski, Lindsay Probasco, Nina Ramos, Jackie Randolph, Zoe Ruff, Meaghan Ryan, Kathleen Schofield, Apryl Tomala and Jade Welgat.
Marist’s team includes Lauren Amendola, Sarah Flosi, Mary Callaghan, Kristina Segrado, Emma Flosi, MaryKate Davidson, Emily Erickson, Rachel Davidson of Orland Park.
Other area students on the team include Kaila Case (Palos Heights), Alaina Bergamini and Laura Murphy (Homer Glen).
The team also features Paige Ziemba, Nicole Henderson, Rachel Henderson and Nora Moran (Chicago), Emma Sintich and Carly Mannix (Alsip), Katie Labine (Bridgeview), Annie Zielinksi, Rachel Morris and Kristen Gaynor (Oak Lawn) and Brenna O’Connor (Worth).
